Musim Mas achieves 100% RSPO P&C Certification against the 2018 Standards

July 8, 2021

Singapore, 08 July 2021 – Musim Mas (or the Group) achieves 100% Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification for all its 15 integrated mills with concessions in Indonesia, against the latest Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Principles and Criteria (P&C) 2018.

With the addition of the recently commissioned mill of PT Lestari Abadi Perkasa (LAP), which was certified on 24 June 2021, Musim Mas achieves 100% RSPO certification for all its 15 integrated mills according to the latest P&C 2018. The total certified volume of Crude Palm Oil is 746,894 tonnes, and the total certified Palm Kernels volume is 187,516 tonnes.

Musim Mas has first achieved 100% RSPO certification for all the integrated mills with concessions in 2012. Since then, the Group has built or acquired new mills and plantations. The Group committed to achieving 100% RSPO certification for all eligible mills and plantations by 2021. Despite the Covid pandemic, the Group is glad to announce that it has completed its target.

Additionally, as of December 2019, all 44 downstream operations were certified against the RSPO Supply Chain Certification Standard (SCCS). Musim Mas can supply products under the Identity Preserved, Segregated, and Mass Balance supply chain models.

In November 2018, the RSPO successfully adopted the 2018 Principles and Criteria (P&C), reflecting substantially higher standards than the 2013 version. The updated criteria now require using the High Carbon Stock Approach toolkit to better deliver No Deforestation commitments, with a higher standard around no new developments on peatlands and more explicit safeguards for labor rights.

In October 2019, the Group’s subsidiary, PT. Multipersada Gatramegah (MPG) was the first facility in the world to be audited against the revised standards. PT. MPG achieved the 2018 P&C certification in March 2020.

“Musim Mas remains committed to certification as it accelerates the transformation of our industry. Becoming certified is a process that supports operational excellence, as all aspects of our operations are reviewed. It is also a way to pass the sustainability achievements of producers on to the consumers, an opportunity for them to make better-informed choices. This milestone is an important one to demonstrate our continued commitment to the RSPO since the day we joined as a pioneering member from Indonesia in 2004,” said Olivier Tichit, Director of Sustainable Supply Chain, Musim Mas Group.
