Since we launched our Sustainability Policy in December 2014, we have gained a wide range of experience in implementing our policy. When it comes to managing our third-party suppliers, we believe that close cooperation and constructive dialogues with suppliers are paramount in achieving impact. We provide support by working with suppliers on their action plans and milestones, and we will activate the Controlled Purchase plan to resolve grievances promptly.

Nonetheless, we expect our third-party suppliers to adhere to the commitments laid down in our No Deforestation, No Peat and No Exploitation (NDPE ) policy. When we engage our suppliers with a grievance case, we emphasised on transparent milestones to drive the progress of change. We have communicated earlier to the supplier that it needs to address the action plans and milestones.

Since the issues first surfaced in 2016, we have been closely monitoring the developments, and have been in constant engagement with the involved parties in pushing to resolve the case. You can see the details of the case via our website here.

Our decision to cease buying that we made in September 2018 will remain in place.

Additionally, we will continue to support Lonsum in its endeavour to fulfil the requirements of the RSPO as contained in the decision of the RSPO Complaints Panel dated 2 November 2018. The decision has indicated that the corrective actions that need to be implemented by Lonsum with immediate effect and to be completed within six months.
The first critical milestone will be Lonsum’s public action plan within the next 30 days. Any further action from Musim Mas will be guided by Lonsum’s action plan and implementation as contained in the RSPO Complaint Panel’s decision.
