Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) School of Medicine and Musim Mas
In September 2024, Musim Mas conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) for health workers, including local doctors and midwives in Aceh Singkil and Subulussalam. The training was led by Dr. Putri C. Eyanoer, M.Epi., Ph. D, from the USU School of Medicine. Expanding on our work in Riau, the training focused on nutrition and balanced diet education.
Through the Women Smallholders Program, independent female smallholders gained vital life skills to support their families and communities. What began in three regencies in Riau—working with women smallholders and smallholders’ wives—expanded in 2024 with the addition of a Training of Trainers (ToT) module.
From October to December 2024, Musim Mas trained 231 women smallholders and the wives of male smallholders from six villages in Aceh Singkil and Subulussalam.
These women have since become educators themselves, passing on their knowledge and empowering others around them, with the training focusing on nutrition and balanced diet education.
A distinctive feature of this program was the development of a prototype based on “Isi Piringku,” an Indonesian national campaign that promotes a balanced and nutritious diet tailored to local food products.
It underscores the importance of a balanced diet for a healthy lifestyle, particularly in efforts to reduce stunting. An initiative by the Ministry of Health, it promotes food consumption in accordance with balanced nutritional standards and includes guidance on healthy behaviors such as proper handwashing and overall hygiene. Musim Mas also offered medical check-ups to draw more community members to the program.
