An important structural compound of fats and oils. A complete split (hydrolysis) of fats/oils results in glycerine and free fatty acids. Glycerine is used as humectants, as food ingredients, in pharmaceutical products and in explosives. Glycerine can be synthesised from petroleum feedstock.
